What is mental skills coaching?
Who can benefit from coaching and support related to improving mental performance?
We typically work with athletes who are experiencing a particular performance issue, for example, lack of confidence, nerves before competition, inability to focus when it matters, or concerns about pressure and outcomes. While we help athletes to build mental skills to improve their performance and well-being, we also work with athletes who are doing well and are looking to get better in order to advance to the next level of their sport or gain valuable life skills.
How quickly can I expect to see results?
Each athlete is different, so the amount of time it takes to achieve desired results will vary. It's also important to emphasize that mental skills coaching is a process that unfolds over time as the mental performance coach and athlete work together collaboratively. Our goal is not to meet with athletes forever, but to teach and empower them to apply mental skills on their own. While clients typically work with one of our mental performance coaches for an average of eight sessions, athletes who get the most out of mental skills coaching leverage our expertise for 10 sessions over a few months, up to 30 sessions over a few years.
How much do sessions cost? What are accepted forms of payment?
The cost of mental skills coaching varies. We provide pricing within a Mental Coaching Plan for prospective one-on-one clients following a free consultation if both the mental performance coach and athlete feel that they would be a good fit to work together. Our pricing for online one-on-one mental skills coaching begins at $850 (this is our 5-session package). For teams, we provide pricing within a proposal following a free coach meeting.
We accept checks and all major credit cards for payment. Payment plans are available upon request.
We do not accept insurance or provide superbills that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement. Our mental performance coaches are trained and credentialed as educators, not as clinicians, and are not "sport psychologists," licensed psychologists, therapists, or counselors. Therefore, we do not provide any mental health or medical diagnoses or treatment that would be covered by insurance. If you are looking for a helping professional of this nature, we recommend using the search tools through your insurance provider, Psychology Today, or the Georgia Psychological Association.
